Lab 0 · M0 Course Introduction

Validate Lab Environment

Before touching Power Automate, confirm the Microsoft 365 tenant you were given for this course is working — you can sign in to Power Apps, and you have a Team ready in Microsoft Teams to use throughout the labs.

15 min Hands-on lab
Important: this course gives you one Microsoft 365 tenant and Power Platform licenses for the practice labs. Settings you change in the tenant persist for the course, but the virtual lab machine resets every time you close the session. Microsoft 365 and Power Platform change constantly, so what you see may not match these steps exactly — treat the tenant as a shared trial: don't convert it to a paid subscription, and don't use it for anything outside the labs.

Exercises

01
Exercise 1 — Access Microsoft Power Platform

Confirm you can reach Power Apps with the credentials your lab host gave you.

Task 1.1 — Sign in to Power Apps
  1. Have your Microsoft 365 credentials from the Authorized Lab Host ready — they're on the Resources tab.
  2. In a new browser tab, go to https://powerapps.microsoft.com and select Sign in.
  3. Enter the email address and password provided, selecting Next and Sign in as prompted.
  4. If asked for contact info, leave the country/region as default, enter 0123456789 for phone number, and select Submit.
  5. On the welcome screen, leave the country/region as United States and select Get started.
  6. Top-right of the screen, confirm the Environment reads Dev One — you'll work in this environment for every lab. Switch to it if it isn't already selected.
Task 1.2 — Update the browser
  1. Open Microsoft Edge, select the ⋯ Commands menu → Help and feedbackAbout Microsoft Edge.
  2. Apply any pending updates and restart the browser — this avoids odd rendering issues in later labs.

Later labs post approval notifications into a Teams channel, so set up a team now.

Task 2.1 — Sign in to Teams
  1. In a new tab, go to https://teams.microsoft.com and sign in with the same credentials.
  2. Dismiss the "Get to know Teams" prompt if it appears.
  3. Expand Teams and channels, then select See all your teams.
Task 2.2 — Create a team
  1. If no teams are listed, select Create team top-right.
  2. Name it Contoso, name the first channel General, and select Create.
  3. Select Skip to close the add-members prompt.
